Melissa Lee

Owner/CEO

Melissa was born in Talkeetna and calls both Alaska and Colorado home. Melissa’s background is in Education. She taught English in South Korea, was a public school teacher for 7 years, and has also worked as an instructor and instructional coach for teachers in southwest Colorado. She currently works with ‘at-risk’ youth in Colorado during the winter as a Behavioral Specialist for a public school. Having her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, she is so thrilled for the opportunity to be working with the Alaska Floats and Skis family. As an avid adventurer, Melissa has summited both Denali and Mt. Aconcagua and traveled to 20 countries. She loves spending time with her family including her 13-year-old son, Avitt, and her boyfriend, Jayson. She also enjoys flying airplanes and was raised exploring Alaska from the sky. Life in Alaska is a small slice of heaven and sharing that with others from around the globe is such a privilege!

Jayson

CFI/Fixed Wing + Helicopter/Chief Pilot

Over 25 years of piloting everything from light airplanes, jets, turboprops, sailplanes, single & multiengine BIG tires and floats to many different types of rotorcraft helicopters and a few gyrocopters. Spent 10 years active United States Navy doing everything from aviation survival training to in flight medicine in a Search & Rescue capacity. Have spent the better half of my career providing safe and efficient transportation in airplanes & helicopters right here across the entire state of Alaska. I truly enjoy teaching flying no matter what type of flying machine when I can. Flight instruction has always been a passion and I feel blessed being able to do it with Alaska Floats & Skis.

Scott

CFI/Fixed Wing + Helicopter

Born and raised in northwest Indiana (Bear Down!) but have lived in New York, Alabama, Texas and now Alaska. I graduated from West Point in 2015 and have been an aviation officer and AH-64D Apache pilot throughout my time in the Army. I earned my helicopter and fixed wing ratings while serving in the military and added my commercial ASEL rating at AKFS in 2021. I enjoy exploring Alaska in my Citabria 7GCBC, fishing, hunting, and spending time with my fiancé and our two cats (Kitty and Walt). I’m looking forward to a great summer in Talkeetna where the only thing more uniquely amazing than the group of people at AKFS is the flying.

David Weaver

David is one of Alaska's newest residents. Having recently relocated from the smaller state of Texas (sorry Texans), David cut all ties with the big city life in Houston and committed to a one-way adventure to the last frontier, fulfilling a life-long ambition that began on a family trip at the age of 10. "My father introduced me to the amazing state of Alaska at an early age and 'The Call of the Wild' only became louder with passing time." David's passion for flying began at an early age, where he obtained his private pilot license at the age of 17 and went on to Embry-Riddle (Daytona) to complete the Professional Pilot and Aerospace Engineering programs. Not one to follow convention, David began his aviation career as an Engineer with the Swedish Air Force that led to the once in a lifetime opportunity to join NASA as an Instructor, where he trained both Astronauts and Astronaut candidates in the operation of the Electrical Power Systems for the International Space Station and served over a decade in the Mission Evaluation Room, supporting missions in real-time. As with many clients of Alaska Floats and Skis, David became a fiercely loyal and repeat customer. Today, we are now excited to welcome David to the Alaska Floats and Skis team

Eric Andersen

Eric was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Ohio, but spent many years in Utah, ultimately working his way toward a dream of moving to Alaska to fly. He is passionate about exploring the outdoors including skiing, biking, hiking, kayaking, climbing, and so much more. Anything to get out into the mountains and nature. He volunteers with the Civil Air Patrol and and works as a flight instructor full-time. He has explored by air all over the mountains of the western U.S. and this gorgeous state of Alaska. He is thrilled to share this experience with you.
